Biography

11 May/11 June 1806–20 Aug. 1873. Miller, farmer. Born at Sandisfield, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts. Son of James Adams and Polly Marvin. Married Hannah Elizabeth Root, 12 June 1828, in Ashtabula, Ashtabula Co., Ohio. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by 27 May 1837. Presided over branch in Andover, Ashtabula Co., beginning 1837. Served mission in Trumbull Co., Ohio, 1841. Served as agent for Times and Seasons, 1842, in Andover. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, where he purchased land, 1845. Ordained a high priest by John Smith, 18 Jan. 1845, in Nauvoo. Joined Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after associating with James J. Strang’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moved to Silver Prairie, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, by 1850. Moved to Boyer Township, Harrison Co., Iowa, by 1856. Died at Woodbine, Harrison Co.
