Be it remembered that on the second day of October in the year A.D. 1844 and , as principals, and Robert F Smith, , John Harris, John D Mellin [Mellen], , Jeremiah Smith, Charles C Stephens [Stevens], Henry <Stephens, and Elam S Freeman,, as Securities—> personally appeared before me one of the justices of the Supreme Court of , and presiding judge of the fifth judicial circuit, and jointly and severally acknowledged themselves to one and be indebted to the people of the State of the sum of the two thousand dollars, to be levied of their goods and , lands and if default be made in the condition following (to wit)
The condition of this is Such, that if the above bounden and shall personally be and appear before the Circuit Court of , State of Illinois, on the first day of the term thereof, next to be holden in and for the said county of ; then and there to ans[wer] a charge of as is said to have been committed on the 13thd 27th day of June 1844 in said and abide the judgment of the court and not depart without leave: then this recognizance to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect
